First place Indiana Tech needed just three sets to defeat Lourdes on Wednesday evening, 25-19, 25-22, 25-23 inside the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center.
Kylee McBride (Peoria, Ariz./Mountain Ridge H.S.) led Lourdes with 12 kills while
Ella Lewis (Scotts, Mich./Portage Northern H.S.) added 10 more. The Gray Wolves hit just .123 as a team.
Defensively,
Arleena Willer (Perrysburg, Ohio/Toledo Christian H.S.) picked up a match-high 19 digs while
McKenna Hall (Sylvania, Ohio/Northview H.S.) added 11 more.
Lourdes scored the first five points of the match before the Warriors came back and took the lead with a 12-3 run of their own midway through the opening stanza. Indiana Tech put down 17 kills in set one.
After falling behind 4-1 in set two, Lourdes scored the next seven points to take its lone lead of the set. With the Gray Wolves in front 10-8, Indiana Tech scored 11 of the next 13 points to pull in front for good on the way to building a 2-0 lead in the match.
The Gray Wolves led 11-10 in the third before the visitors took the lead down the stretch. Lourdes battled back to pull even at both 22 and 23 but could not retake the lead late.
Taylor Paul led Indiana Tech (23-3, 13-1 WHAC) with 16 kills and hit .324 while Jacey Blust had 18 digs for the Warriors.
Lourdes (2-17, 2-12) remains home on Friday evening to host Madonna. The first serve is set for 7 p.m. inside the Ebeid Rec Center.
