On an evening when Lourdes celebrated the five members of its senior class, Michigan-Dearborn spoiled the festivities with a 25-18, 25-15, 25-23 victory over the Gray Wolves inside the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center.
The Wolverines hit .321 on the evening, putting down 40 kills to the Gray Wolves' 25 while outdigging the hosts 34-25 for the night.
Lourdes was within two, 13-11, in the opening set when Michigan-Dearborn scored nine straight points to pull away and take the early lead in the match. In the second, the Wolverines hit a blistering .591 with 15 kills on just 22 swings. An early 11-2 run allowed the visitors to take control.
In the third, the Gray Wolves led most of the way, holding a 23-20 advantage after five straight points only to see the Wolverines answer with five of their own to close out the match.
Kylee McBride (Peoria, Ariz./Mountain Ridge H.S.) led the way for Lourdes with nine kills while
Shelby White (Harrison, Ohio/Harrison H.S.) had a team-high seven digs.
Kielee Tondryk tallied 11 kills while Brooke Wetherill added 10 kills and hit .600 for Michigan-Dearborn (12-15, 8-10 WHAC). Kenzie Mertz picked up 15 digs.
Lourdes (3-20, 3-15) takes to the road on Saturday evening as the Gray Wolves travel to Adrian, Mich. to battle Siena Heights. First serve is set for 5 p.m. inside the SHU Fieldhouse.
