Beginning a three-game road trip on Wednesday night, 20
th-ranked Lourdes remained undefeated with an 84-81 victory on the road over Cornerstone inside of Mol Arena in Grand Rapids, Mich.

"This was an excellent game," head coach
Dennis Hopson said afterwards. "Cornerstone is a great team and a this is a great win for us. Our guys did a good job of playing with a sense of urgency."

Lourdes led by as many as 12 in the second half before Cornerstone had three chances to tie in the closing seconds. Leading 79-75 with just over three minutes to play, the Gray Wolves saw the Golden Eagles scored on back-to-back possessions to tie the game with just over a minute-and-a-half time play.

Joey Holifield (Toledo, Ohio/Cardinal Stritch H.S.) put Lourdes back in front with a jumper with 1:14 to play, only to see Cornerstone retie the game with a pair of free throws with just under a minute remaining. Holifield again gave the Gray Wolves the lead with his jumper with just over 30 seconds to play before
Ethan Damerum (Cressage, England/Chornwood Riders H.S.) recorded a steal on a trap along the baseline.

Jakiel Wells (Toledo, Ohio/St. Francis de Sales H.S.) split a pair of three throws to give Lourdes the three-point edge. Luke Rowlinson had a chance to tie in the closing seconds but his three-pointer missed the mark and went out of bounds off the Gray Wolves. With 1.4 seconds left, Rowlinson had another fadeaway attempt at the buzzer but was long, giving Lourdes the victory.

Cornerstone jumped out to a quick 10-2 lead less than three minutes into the game, only to see the Gray Wolves pull even at 12 three minutes later. A triple by
Jackie Harris (Toledo, Ohio/St. Francis de Sales H.S.) ignited a 9-0 run, giving Lourdes the lead, one it would not relinquish the rest of the way.

Lourdes led by as many as 11, 44-33, in the closing minutes of the first half before the Golden Eagles scored the final four points of the stanza to pull within seven at the break.

The Gray Wolves extended the lead to 12, 56-44, less than five minutes into the second half on a
Nic Borojevich (Swanton, Ohio/Swanton H.S.) three-pointer before Cornerstone slowly climbed back down the stretch.

Harris led Lourdes with 21 points, making 6-of-9 from the floor, while Holifield added 16 points and was a perfect 8-for-8 from the charity stripe.Â
Shaunn Monroe (Charleston, W. Va./Hillcrest Prep H.S. [Ohio]) added 15 points and Borojevic had 12 off the bench.

Rowlinson led Cornerstone (4-3, 1-2 WHAC) with 22 points while Eli Steffen added 18 and Cory Ainsworth chipped in 17 more.

Lourdes (7-0, 3-0) remains on the road Saturday afternoon with a trip to Lima, Ohio. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m. inside Racer Gymnasium against the University of Northwestern Ohio.
