Lourdes Posts Four-Set Victory at Goshen

Lourdes notched its sixth win in its last seven matches on Friday evening as the 10th-ranked Gray Wolves defeated Goshen 26-28, 25-23, 25-15, 29-27 inside Gunden Gymnasium in Goshen, Ind.

In a match in which both teams hit .200 and the Maple Leafs held a slim 52-50 kill advantage, Lourdes took advantage of the service game to win the contest.  The Gray Wolves registered 10 aces against just 10 errors while Goshen had six aces and 16 errors.

"This is a good win for us tonight," head coach Greg Reitz said afterwards.  "We played well and when we weren't playing our best we battled to get back in our rhythm."

The opening set had 21 ties and nine lead changes before the hosts won in extra points.  The second set was close throughout as well, with neither team leading by more than three at any point before the Gray Wolves evened the match.  Lourdes never trailed in the third, scoring 10 consecutive points to build a 16-6 advantage on the way to taking the lead in the match.  In the fourth, there were 14 more ties and eight lead changes with the Gray Wolves fighting off a pair of set points by the Maple Leafs before scoring the final three points of the match.
