Seventh-ranked Georgia Gwinnett scored multiple runs in each of the first four innings on Sunday afternoon on the way to an 18-0 victory over Lourdes at the Grizzly Baseball Complex in Lawrenceville, Ga.
Â
"Against good teams we have to make the plays," head coach
Josh Bradford said afterwards. "We had some costly errors early that extended their innings. We have to do a better job of putting together quality at bats."
Â
The Grizzlies plated three in the first and two more in the second to take an early lead. An error led to six unearned runs as part of a nine-run third for Georgia Gwinnett (17-2) before the hosts plated two more in both the fourth and sixth innings.
Â
Lourdes had a runner on third in the second and loaded the bases without anyone out in the seventh, but was unable to plate a runner, tallying just four hits on the afternoon.
Â
Lourdes (2-5) will head to Montreat, N.C. on Monday afternoon to continue its spring trip. First pitch against Montreat is set for 3 p.m. at Newell Field.
