Lourdes continued its spring trip on Wednesday afternoon, dropping an 11-4 decision to Campbellsville at HIG Stadium in Campbellsville, Ky.
"We started off with a rough inning and we were not able to recover," head coach
Josh Bradford said afterwards. "Brenden (Holland) bounced back and gave us three scoreless after the first. Offensively, we were not very consistent and we did not put up good at bats."
Campbellsville (9-11) jumped in front quickly, scoring four times in the opening inning. Lourdes got on the scoreboard in the fourth as
Josh Hare (Simcoe, Ont./Holy Trinity H.S.) delivered a RBI single to plate
Steve Haugh (Waterville, Ohio/Anthony Wayne H.S.), who doubled with two outs.
The Tigers increased the lead with a pair of runs in the fifth, a single tally in the sixth, and three more in the seventh before
Joel Suraganan (Pickerington, Ont./Dunbarton H.S.) homered in the eighth. An error and a bases loaded walk in the ninth plated the Gray Wolves final two runs.
Lourdes managed just five hits on the afternoon.
Brenden Holland (Riga, Mich./Blissfield H.S.) started and took the loss (0-1), allowing four runs and four hits in the four innings of work.
Lourdes (3-6) closes out its spring trip on Thursday afternoon as the Gray Wolves travel to Columbia, Ky. to face Lindsey Wilson. First pitch is set for 4 p.m. EST at Egnew Park.
