Lourdes concluded its annual spring trip on Thursday afternoon with an 11-7 victory over Linsey Wilson at Egnew Park in Columbia, Ky.
The Gray Wolves started fast as
Josh Hare (Simcoe, Ont./Holy Trinity H.S.) doubled home a run and
Steve Haugh (Waterville, Ohio/Anthony Wayne H.S.) hit a two-run home run in the opening inning. A wild pitch plated
Skylar Mays (Oregon, Ohio/Clay H.S.) in the second, giving Lourdes a 4-0 lead.
Lindsey Wilson (10-7) tied the game in the bottom of the second with four runs of its own before Hare put the Gray Wolves back in front in the fourth with a two-run double.
Joel Suraganan (Pickerington, Ont./Dunbarton H.S.) hit a three-run home run in the fifth as the Lourdes lead grew to 10-4. An unearned run in the sixth pushed the lead to seven.
The Blue Raiders scored two in the seventh and added a run in the eighth, but would not get any closer.
Joey Oehlers (Lambertville, Mich./Bedford H.S.) pitched five innings of relief to earn the win (1-2), striking out 10 and allowing three runs, two of which were earned, and three hits.
Mays went 3-for-4 with three runs scored to lead Lourdes 10-hit attack.
Lourdes (4-6) will have six days off before the Gray Wolves head to Crestview Hills, Ky. on March 15 to face Thomas More. First pitch is set for 3 p.m. at Thomas More Stadium.
