Lourdes dropped both ends of its non-conference doubleheader against Mount Vernon Nazarene on the road Tuesday, falling 8-2 and 8-4 at Cougar Field in Mount Vernon, Ohio.
 
The Gray Wolves struck first in the opener, as Steve Haugh's (Waterville, Ohio/Anthony Wayne H.S.) sacrifice fly drove home Joel Suraganan (Pickerington, Ont./Dunbarton H.S.) with the game's first run.
 
The Cougars responded with three runs in the bottom of the frame and added three more in the second.  Mount Vernon Nazarene extended the lead to 8-1 following single runs in the fifth and sixth before A.J. Brinson's (Bloomington, Ind./South H.S.) single brought home Zack Mon (Columbus, Ohio/Westland H.S.) with Lourdes final tally of the game.
 
Brinson had two of the Gray Wolves' seven hits in the opener.
 
Mount Vernon Nazarene (12-18) jumped in front quick in game two, plating a pair of opening inning runs before adding four more in the second.  The lead swelled to eight after single tallies in the fourth and sixth frames.
 
The Gray Wolves scored all four of their runs in the seventh.  Nick DiGennaro (Oakville, Ont./St. Ignatius of Loyola H.S.) delivered a bases clearing double with one out to score three runs and crossed the plate himself a batter later on a sacrifice fly by Andrew Arntson (Luckey, Ohio/Eastwood H.S.).  Lourdes had managed just one hit through the first six innings.
 
Lourdes (14-17) returns to Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play on Wednesday afternoon, traveling to Adrian, Mich. for a single game against Siena Heights.  First pitch is set for 4 p.m. at the SHU Baseball Diamond.
