Lourdes and Marian Battle to Scoreless Draw

After 90 minutes on Saturday evening, neither Lourdes nor Marian (Ind.) was able to find the back of the net, settling for a scoreless draw at Wildcat Stadium.

"I am very proud of the way we played," head coach Matt Johnson said afterwards.  "Marian is a good side, and we were able to control the game for good stretches and create a number of good scoring chances.  We are still lacking that final touch, but we have a lot of confidence in our attacking players, and we think goals are coming if we continue to play the way we did today.  It was a physical game and we picked up quite a few knocks, so we definitely need to take care of our bodies in the next few days and get ourselves fit and ready for Wednesday."

Marian (1-0-2) finished the match with a 14-11 shot advantage after holding a 6-5 edge at halftime.  The Knights also had a 5-4 edge in corner kick chances.

Alex Brock (Sylvania, Ohio/Southview H.S.) made four saves in net for the Gray Wolves to earn his third career shutout while Juan Torres made five stops for the clean sheet for the Knights.

Lourdes (0-1-1) will take to the road for the first time this season on Wednesday afternoon as the Gray Wolves travel to Notre Dame, Ind. to face Holy Cross (Ind.).  Kickoff is set for 4:30 p.m. at Saints Field.
