Lourdes jumped out to a two-set lead on Wednesday evening, but Lawrence Tech rallied to defeat the Gray Wolves in five, 20-25, 16-25, 25-10, 25-14, 15-10 inside the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center.
After falling behind 16-10 in the opening set, the Gray Wolves scored seven of the next eight points to pull even and closed the stanza on a 15-4 run to take the early lead in the match. Lourdes held the Blue Devils to -.022 hitting in set one.
In the second, Lourdes never trailed, jumping out to a 7-2 lead on the way to building a 19-8 advantage. The Gray Wolves put down 11 kills in the set to take a 2-0 lead in the match.
After the Gray Wolves opened the third with the first point, Lawrence Tech (5-6, 3-4 WHAC) scored eight straight points to seize control. The Blue Devils hit .400 in the frame and built a 19-6 lead on the way to extending the match. Lawrence Tech also took a quick 10-4 lead in the fourth and scored the final five points of the set, including three of the team's 14 aces for the night.
In the fifth, Lourdes took an 8-6 lead when the teams switched sides, but the visitors rallied with seven of the last eight points to complete the comeback.
McKenna Hall (Sylvania, Ohio/Northview H.S.) led Lourdes with 13 kills and 18 digs while
Ella Lewis (Scotts, Mich./Portage Northern H.S.) added 11 kills and 22 digs. Lewis was also involved in five blocks.
Arleena Willer (Perrysburg, Ohio/Toledo Christian H.S.) picked up 18 digs as well.
Lindsay Hubler led Lawrence Tech with 17 kills while Juliana Bollini had a match-high 24 digs to go along with 10 assists.
Lourdes (2-11, 2-6) will remain at home on Friday evening as the Gray Wolves entertain Siena Heights. The first serve is slated for 7 p.m. inside the Ebeid Rec Center.
