Lourdes battled from behind to take the opening set on Friday evening, but Siena Heights rallied to win the next three, defeating the Gray Wolves 28-30, 25-14, 25-18, 25-18 inside the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center.
The Saints jumped in front 8-1 in the opening set before Lourdes responded with 12 of the next 14 points to pull in front. After 13 ties in the stanza, Lourdes scored the final three points to pull out the win.
Siena Heights responded in the second, hitting .419 with 13 kills and no errors offensively. Trailing 10-9, the Saints scored the next four points to take the lead, starting a 16-4 run to even the match.
Six straight points by the Saints midway through the third gave the visitors a 16-8 lead as Siena Heights put down 16 kills in the set. The fourth set had 11 ties before a 6-1 run by the Saints put them in front for good.
Ella Lewis (Scotts, Mich./Portage Northern H.S.) led Lourdes with 13 kills offensively.
Arleena Willer (Perrysburg, Ohio/Toledo Christian H.S.) picked up a team-high 19 digs while
McKenna Hall (Sylvania, Ohio/Northview H.S.) added 17 more.
Kenady Cox (Oregon, Ohio/Clay H.S.) picked up 13 digs to go along with 22 assists while
Jolie Sobb (Toledo, Ohio/Maumee H.S.) added 12 digs.
Olivia Norman led Siena Heights (14-4, 6-3 WHAC) with 15 kills while Payton Osborne tallied 26 digs.
Lourdes (2-12, 2-7) closes out the first half of Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference action on Saturday afternoon, heading to Dearborn, Mich. to face Michigan-Dearborn. First serve is set for 1 p.m. inside the UMD Fieldhouse.
