SYLVANIA, Ohio (LourdesAthletics.com) -- The Lourdes University men's soccer team continued their winning streak with a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Lawrence Tech on Saturday afternoon at Wildcat Stadium. Despite a tough challenge from the visitors, the Gray Wolves showed resilience, with rookie
Jack Pelton leading the charge by scoring two key goals to secure the win.
The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference victory improved the Gray Wolves league record to 5-1-1, good for third in the conference standings. Their overall record sits at 6-5-2 for the 2024 season.Â
Pelton scored the game-winning goal late in the first half, finishing off a perfectly placed pass from senior defender Eli Bride to give the Gray Wolves a 1-0 lead over Lawrence Tech.
Pelton struck again early in the second half, this time with an assist from senior Federico Reali, doubling Lourdes' advantage to 2-0. Lawrence Tech responded with a goal in the 80th minute, cutting the lead in half, but Bride quickly restored the two-goal cushion, scoring his second career goal just moments later.
With the match seemingly in hand, a late foul in the box gave the Blue Devils a penalty kick, which they converted to pull within one in the final seconds. Despite the tense finish, the Gray Wolves held on for the 3-2 victory.Â
