DEFIANCE, Ohio (LourdesAthletics.com) – The Lourdes University men's soccer team closed-out the final regular-season with a commanding 5-1 road victory against the host Yellow Jackets of Defiance College on Wednesday afternoon. The win improved their overall record to 9-6-3 for the season and 8-2-2 in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference action, good for third in the WHAC standings.
Jannik Hofmann opened the scoring in the fourth minute with an assist from senior Bhuvan Ramaswamy. Freshman Abed Taleb added his first collegiate goal in the 43rd minute, assisted by freshman Jack Pelton, to give Lourdes a 2-0 lead at halftime.
In the second half, Martin Coronel scored unassisted in the 49th minute. Defiance responded in the 69th minute, narrowing the score to 3-1. Lourdes answered with a fourth goal by Pelton in the 77th minute, assisted by senior Dylan Lynam, and senior Jose Zarate completed the scoring in the 82nd minute.
Senior goalkeepers Alex Brock and Yianni Kanellopoulos split time in goal, with Brock recording three saves in the first half and Kanellopoulos adding one save while allowing one goal in the second half.

- With nine season wins, the team has earned more wins than it did in the previous season with six. Additionally, the 2024 campaign marks just the third season with nine-plus wins, tying the 2021 and 2020 squads for the most single-season wins in program history.
