SYLVANIA, Ohio (LourdesAthletics.com) – The Lourdes University women's basketball team earned a hard-fought 89-82 victory over Indiana University-Kokomo on Tuesday, Nov. 12, at the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center.
The Gray Wolves came out strong in the first quarter, shooting an impressive 61.9% from the field and taking a 21-13 lead. However, IU-Kokomo responded with a solid second-quarter effort, narrowing the gap to 27-26 at halftime after Lourdes shot just 37.5% from the field. The third quarter saw the teams trade buckets, with Lourdes holding a slim 43-42 lead heading into the final period.
In the fourth, Lourdes took control, led by clutch free-throw shooting, where they went 12-for-15 (80%) from the line. The Gray Wolves sealed the win with a strong final frame, outscoring IU-Kokomo 46-40 in the second half to finish with an 89-82 victory.
Emma Pedroza led the way for Lourdes, recording a double-double with 25 points and 12 rebounds. She shot 9-of-20 from the field and a perfect 6-for-6 from the free-throw line, adding six assists to her stat line.
Tamyah Worthy contributed 15 points on 7-of-10 shooting and grabbed seven rebounds. Macie Stringfellow finished with 13 points and six rebounds, while Nadeen Jemaa added 10 points, two rebounds, and two assists. Oliwia Djya chipped in seven points and four rebounds.
As a team, Lourdes shot 47.2% (34-72) from the field, 37.5% (6-16) from three-point range, and 71.4% (15-21) from the free-throw line. The Gray Wolves dominated the paint, scoring 42 points inside and also capitalized on second-chance opportunities, scoring 19 points off offensive rebounds.
