BEREA, Ohio (LourdesAthletics.com) -- The Lourdes University men's wrestling team posted a strong performance at the Baldwin Wallace Invitational, securing a third-place finish among 12 teams with 130 points. The Gray Wolves were led by standout performances in several weight classes, including two individual champions and multiple placers contributing significantly to the team's overall success.
Baldwin Wallace claimed the team title with 187.5 points, while Manchester took second place with 138 points, narrowly edging Lourdes in a competitive field.
Tyler Cobb, competing in the 285-pound weight class, delivered an exceptional performance to claim first place. Cobb earned 28.5 team points, dominating his bracket with several decisive victories, including a major decision over Baldwin Wallace's Angelo Camargo in the championship match. Joining him atop the podium was Will Speight at 184 pounds, who scored 27 points for the team. Speight's run included a commanding technical fall over Baldwin Wallace's Remington Bauer in the final.
At 141 pounds, Cole McKinley rebounded from an early loss to finish third, contributing 24.5 points to the Gray Wolves' total. McKinley's day was highlighted by an impressive streak of wins in the consolation bracket, capped by a pin against Mequan Maxwell of Thiel in the third-place match. Nick Rodriguez, competing at 133 pounds, also put in a strong effort, finishing fourth and adding 17 points. Rodriguez had notable victories, including a thrilling sudden victory over West Liberty's James Armstrong Jr. in the quarterfinals.
Other contributors included Roman Cordoba, who placed sixth at 125 pounds and earned 12 points, and Isaac Green, who added 4 points in the 133-pound bracket. Carter Kroll, competing at 197 pounds, claimed fourth place and scored 16.5 points, showing resilience with several wins in the consolation rounds, including two falls.
