DEFIANCE, Ohio (LourdesAthletics.com) – The Lourdes University women's basketball secured a dominant 70-43 victory over Defiance College on the road in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference matchup on Saturday, Nov. 23. The Gray Wolves put together a strong team effort, dominating both offensively and defensively to improve to 6-1 overall and 2-0 in the conference.
Emma Pedroza led the way with a game-high 23 points, shooting 11-of-20 from the field, while adding three rebounds and two assists. This marks her third 20+ point game of the season.
Nadeen Jemaa contributed 14 points, including four three-pointers (her second game with 4+ threes this season), and also grabbed four rebounds.
Macie Stringfellow posted a solid double-double, finishing with 12 points and a game-high 15 rebounds, her second of the season.
Tamyah Worthy also contributed with eight rebounds and two points.
As a team, Lourdes shot 41.9% from the field (31-74) and was 4-for-13 from beyond the arc. The Gray Wolves also controlled the boards, out-rebounding Defiance 64-27. Lourdes' defense held Defiance to just 27.9% shooting from the field and 3-of-18 from three-point range.
The Gray Wolves dominated every quarter, jumping out to a 21-10 lead in the first and extending their advantage to 43-16 by halftime. Lourdes maintained control through the second half, leading by as many as 34 points late in the fourth quarter.
