SYLVANIA, Ohio (LourdesAthletics.com) -- The Lourdes University men's basketball team capped off a successful Homecoming weekend with an 80-66 victory over Holy Cross College on Saturday at the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center, finishing the Saturday sweep after the women topped Adrian College in the earlier game.
Lourdes displayed strong offensive grit, shooting 31-for-66 (47%) from the field and 8-for-26 (30.8%) from beyond the arc. The Gray Wolves were also effective at the free-throw line, converting 10 of their 13 attempts (76.9%). On the defensive end, the team collected 28 rebounds while recording four blocks and nine steals. Notably, eight players recorded two or more rebounds in the win, A total of eight players contributed two or more rebounds in the victory, highlighting the Gray Wolves' strong team effort on the boards.
Individually, senior Shaunn Monroe led the pack once again, posting another 30-piece for the second time this season after achieving the feat in the season opener against Bryant & Stratton. His stat line was impressive, as he shot 12-for-22 from the field, 3-for-6 from three-point range, and a perfect 3-for-3 from the free-throw line, while also contributing four rebounds, three assists, one block, and four steals.
Freshman rookie Adonus Abrams also had a standout performance, shooting a perfect 7-for-7 from the field, including 1-for-1 from three-point range, and 2-for-2 from the free-throw line, finishing the game with 17 points, the second-highest among Gray Wolves.Â
The victory marked the second for Interim Head Coach Jake DuPree.
