SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (LourdesAthletics.com) – Lourdes University women's basketball used a dominant second quarter to take control and held off a late rally from Lawrence Tech University, earning a 68-60 victory Wednesday night at Don Ridler Fieldhouse. The win moves Lourdes to 7-2 overall and 3-1 in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) play.
Emma Pedroza led the way for Lourdes University, delivering a standout all-around performance with 21 points, seven rebounds, and four assists. Macie Stringfellow contributed 14 points and seven rebounds, while Grace Ryan added 10 points and five rebounds in a solid two-way effort.
Tamyah Worthy pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds and added six points. Camryn Ivy gave the Gray Wolves a boost off the bench with 10 points and six rebounds, including a 6-for-10 performance at the free-throw line.
After trailing 19-13 at the end of the first quarter, Lourdes outscored Lawrence Tech, 19-5 to take a 32-24 lead into halftime. The Gray Wolves held the Blue Devils to just 2-of-13 shooting in the period and dominated on the boards with a 45-31 rebounding edge for the game.
The host Blue Devils attempted a comeback in the fourth quarter, cutting the deficit to single digits, but Lourdes held on with key defensive stops and timely free throws to seal the victory.
