Lourdes Tops the Century Mark in Ninth Straight Win

Lourdes reached the century mark for the second time this season on Saturday afternoon as the seventh-ranked Gray Wolves registered their ninth consecutive victory, defeating the University of Northwestern Ohio 101-88 inside the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center.

"We were very focused today," head coach Dennis Hopson said afterwards.  "UNOH played hard and tough, but we moved the ball well.  The three-headed monster of Joey, Jackie, and Shawn played well and the other guys all did complimentary things."

Jackie Harris (Toledo, Ohio/St. Francis de Sales H.S.) scored a game-high 26 points, making 4-of-7 from beyond the arc, while Joey Holifield (Toledo, Ohio/Cardinal Stritch H.S.) added 24 points on 7-of-9 shooting from the floor while handing out six assists.  Shaunn Monroe (Charleston, W. Va./Fairborn [Ohio] H.S.) tallied 19 points on 8-of-11 from the field while registering six steals.

Lourdes shot 61.9% from the floor on the day and was 50% (7-of-14) from beyond the arc.

The game was close throughout most of the first half before Lourdes went on a 7-0 run late in the stanza to build an eight-point lead before taking a 46-39 lead into the locker room.

After the Racers scored the first basket out of halftime, the Gray Wolves went on an 26-6 run to pull away, pushing the lead to 72-47 with just under 13 minutes to play.  Lourdes would maintain its lead throughout the remainder of the half until Northwestern Ohio closed the game on an 11-2 run over the game's final 1:48.

Ryan Archey led Northwestern Ohio (5-17, 4-12 WHAC) with 22 points while Kahlil Davis added 15 more for the Racers.

Lourdes (19-1, 12-1) will remain home on Wednesday evening to host Cornerstone.  Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. inside the Ebeid Rec Center.
