Lourdes Sweeps Home Twinbill from Siena Heights

Caleb Loboschefski (Maumee, Ohio/Maumee H.S.) tossed a three-hit shutout in game two of Saturday's doubleheader, helping lift Lourdes to a sweep of Siena Heights 4-3 and 10-0 at Mercy Field.
 
Loboschefski scattered just three hits and did not walk anyone while striking out four to improve to 3-2 on the season.
 
The offense gave Loboschefski plenty of run support.  Joel Suraganan (Pickerington, Ont./Dunbarton H.S.) tripled to lead off the second and scored on a sacrifice fly by Nick DiGennaro (Oakville, Ont./St. Ignatius of Loyola).  The Gray Wolves plated three runs in the third as Caleb Edwards-Dugan (Lima, Ohio/Lima Senior H.S.) singled home a run and Suraganan drove home two more with a base hit.
 
DiGennaro led off the fourth inning with his third home run of the season before the Gray Wolves erupted for five runs in the sixth, three of which were unearned to secure the victory.
 
A.J. Brinson (Oregon, Ohio/Clay H.S.) had a three-hit game in the nightcap.
 
In the opener, Suraganan doubled home the first run of the game for the Gray Wolves in the opening inning.  Siena Heights (14-22, 8-12 WHAC) tied the game in the top of the fifth before Lourdes bounced back in the bottom of the frame with three runs to retake the lead.  Brinson plated the go-ahead run with a bunt single before Alex Dupree (Sylvania, Ohio/Northview H.S.) followed with an RBI single.  Edwards-Dugan added a run-scoring double, one of his three hits in the game, to push the lead to 4-1.
 
The Saints scored two in the sixth but Bryn Biemiller (Newmarket, Ont./Bill Crothers Secondary H.S.) came on to end the threat before retiring the Saints in the seventh to earn the save.  Brenden Holland (Riga, Mich./Blissfield H.S.) picked up the win (1-5), striking out seven and allowing just three runs on six hits in 5.2 innings of work.
 
Suraganan also had three hits in the opener as part of a five-hit day.
 
Lourdes (8-24, 7-13) heads to Grand Rapids, Mich. on Sunday afternoon for a doubleheader against Aquinas.  The first pitch in game one is slated for 1 p.m. at DeWitt Field on the campus of Cornerstone University.
