Lourdes dropped a pair of games to Indiana Tech at Mercy Field on Wednesday afternoon, falling to the Warriors 12-2 and 13-4.
Indiana Tech built a quick lead in the opener, scoring three runs in the opening inning on the way to a 7-0 lead after three frames. A grand slam in the sixth and a single run in the seventh extended the lead to 12-0 before the Gray Wolves found the scoreboard.
With one out in the bottom of the seventh, Lourdes loaded the bases when
Skylar Mays (Oregon, Ohio/Clay H.S.) hit a ball to third base that was misplayed for an error, allowing
Cord Noble (Rockford, Mich./Rockford H.S.) and
Joel Suraganan (Pickerington, Ont./Dunbarton H.S.) to score the Gray Wolves' lone runs of the game.
Lourdes managed just three hits in the opener, as Nathan Mack carried a no-hitter into the sixth inning. Mack went the distance striking out eight for the complete game win.
In game two, it was Lourdes that took the early lead as Suraganan homered to left in the bottom of the second for his first round-tripper of the season. An inning later,
Alex Dupree (Sylvania, Ohio/Northview H.S.) delivered an RBI single to plate
Christian Mays (Oregon, Ohio/Clay H.S.), who reached on an error. One batter later,
Caleb Edwards-Dugan (Lima, Ohio/Lima Senior H.S.) came through with a run-scoring double to plate Dupree, extending the lead to 3-0.
Avery Harper (Cardington, Ohio/Cardington-Lincoln H.S.) started and tossed four scoreless innings for the Gray Wolves, yielding just two hits. The bullpen took over in the fifth and the Warriors tied the game with a pair of runs in the top of the inning and another in the sixth.
Noble immediately put the Gray Wolves back in front in the bottom of the sixth, leading off the inning with his first collegiate home run to straight away center.
Indiana Tech (13-17, 10-4 WHAC) would take the lead in the top of the seventh with a pair of runs before breaking the game open with eight more tallies in the eighth, sending 11 batters to the plate.
Dupree and Suraganan both had two hits in game two for the Gray Wolves.
Lourdes (6-20, 5-9) takes to the road this weekend as the Gray Wolves head to Lima, Ohio for a four-game weekend series against Northwestern Ohio. The first pitch in Saturday's doubleheader is set for noon at Racer Field.
