Upcoming in Gray Wolves Volleyball:  Lourdes takes to the road for the final week of the regular season looking to wrap up an outright Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference title.  The Gray Wolves head to Bethel (Ind.) on Tuesday night before stepping out of league play on Friday to battle seventh-ranked Saint Xavier.  The regular season concludes Saturday at Indiana Tech.

Head Coach Greg Reitz: In his 13th season both on the Lourdes bench, and overall coaching men's volleyball, Greg Reitz has a 241-94 (.719) record at the helm of the Gray Wolves.  He has earned six conference Coach of the Year honors during his first 12 seasons at Lourdes, including the WHAC Coach of the Year honors in 2019.  He is the only head coach in program history.

Series Notes: Lourdes is 3-0 all-time against Bethel (Ind.) dating back to Feb. 7, 2023.  The Gray Wolves swept the Pilots in three sets earlier this year on Feb. 20 inside the Ebeid Rec Center.  Lourdes won the only previous meeting in Mishawaka, Ind. last year.  The Gray Wolves hold a 20-2 all-time edge against Saint Xavier in a series that began Jan. 20, 2012.  The Cougars have won the last two meetings between the schools though, including a five-set win on March 26 in the Ebeid Rec Center.  Lourdes is 10-1 against Saint Xavier in Chicago, Ill.  Lourdes and Indiana Tech have split their previous 10 meetings 5-5 going back to Jan. 25, 2020.  The Gray Wolves won the contest in the Ebeid Rec Center on March 19 in four sets.  The Warriors hold a 3-2 series edge in matches played in Fort Wayne, Ind.

Wrapping Up Last Week: Lourdes dropped a four-set decision 25-16, 28-26, 22-25, 25-20 at home to Lawrence Tech on Friday.  Eduardo Ayala led the Gray Wolves with 22 kills while Brayden Moyars had 17 digs.  On Saturday, the Gray Wolves celebrated Senior Night with a 25-12, 28-26, 25-18 sweep of Siena Heights.  Ayala posted 12 kills while Moyars had six digs.

Scouting Bethel (Ind.): The Pilots are coming off a four-set loss, 25-27, 25-22, 25-17, 25-23 to Saint Mary-of-the-Woods on Saturday afternoon.  Andre Parra leads the Pilots with 216 kills this season while hitting .200 and has also registered a team-best 17 service aces.  McGwire Eigenrauch has dished out 495 assists.  Defensively, Sebastian Rodriguez has picked up 167 digs while Parra has been involved in a team-leading 48 blocks.

Scouting Saint Xavier: The Cougars enter the week having won 11 consecutive matches after downing Cornerstone in four sets, 21-25, 25-14, 25-17, 25-19 on Saturday at home.  Saint Xavier travels to Judson on Tuesday before hosting the Gray Wolves.  Jan Lopuch leads the team with 287 kills and is hitting .370 this season.  Christian Oviedo has handed out a team-high 502 assists while Matt Pennala has notched 30 service aces.  On defense, Andrew Velez has recorded 276 digs while Drew Ehlers has 72 blocks, including 17 of the solo variety.

Scouting Indiana Tech: The Warriors enter the week coming off a five-set loss, 25-22, 25-22, 19-25, 20-25, 15-12 at home against Lawrence Tech on Saturday.  Indiana Tech will travel to Goshen on Tuesday and hosts Warner on Friday before the Gray Wolves visit.  Daynte Stewart leads the Warriors with 278 kills and is hitting .295 this season while serving up 25 aces.  Brandon Jones has handed out a team-best 479 assists.  Defensively, Alex Rosenow has 177 digs while Raekwon Rogers has 95 blocks, including 24 solo rejections.

Looking for an Outright WHAC Title: With just two league matches remaining in the regular season, Lourdes has assured itself of its third WHAC regular season crown.  The Gray Wolves need just one win, or a Cornerstone loss in its final three matches, to secure the championship outright.  The regular season champion also gets to host to the WHAC tournament semifinals and championship which will take place April 19-20.

Surpassing 1,000 Kills:  Eduardo Ayala became just the fourth Gray Wolf in program history to reach 1,000 kills for his career on Saturday against Siena Heights.  The senior now has 1,004 over his three seasons at Lourdes, and has moved past Frank Craig (2012-2015) for third on the all-time list. He is 175 kills shy of Evan Gebert (2017-2020) for second all-time.

Facing Another Ranked Foe: When Lourdes battles Saint Xavier on Friday night, it will mark the 10th time this season the Gray Wolves have faced an opponent ranked in the NAIA top-15 poll.  Lourdes is 2-7 thus far this season against ranked foes, having defeated #13 Cornerstone and #15 Indiana Tech.  All-time, the Gray Wolves are 44-72 against ranked competition.

Still in the Rankings: For the third straight time, Lourdes is ranked 13th in the latest  NAIA top-15 coaches' poll.  The final poll of the season will coming out on April 17.

Record Win Streak: Lourdes matched its program record with 12 straight victories from Feb. 13 through March 23 before having the streak snapped with Tuesday's loss to Saint Xavier.  The streak matched the record which was previously set from March 4 through April 20 of 2016.

This and That: Lourdes has posted winning records in all 13 seasons in program history, recording at least 15 victories per year ... the Gray Wolves were awarded a forfeit victory against Lawrence Tech on Feb. 16 for the Blue Devils' use of an ineligible player ... Vinicius Lopes is the only Lourdes player to appear in all 84 sets this season.
