JACKSON, Mich. (LourdesAthletics.com) -- The Lourdes University men's and women's bowling teams opened the 2024-25 season at the annual "Dirty Bird Classic" hosted by Wolverine-Hoosier athletic Conference member, Concordia University in Jackson, Mich., at the JAX 60 bowling lanes.
The men placed 13th of 15 competing institutions with a total pin fall of 4,031 over three traditional games and two five-game baker sets. Lourdes finished one spot behind Goshen College (Ind.) which finished the day with a total of 4,051 pins. Claiming the top spot was the host Cardinals with pin-fall score of 4,862.
On the women's lanes, the Gray Wolves totaled 3,560 pins, for a 12th of 14 place finish, just one spot behind Bowling Green State University who carded a team total of 3,652. The winner fo the dirty Bird Classic tournament on the women's side was Spring Arbor University with a 4,443 first-place score.
Individually, it was rookie
Reece Kramer leading the men's pack. The freshman dropped 542 pins with a three-game series score sheet of 190, 190, and 162, good for 27th place. His two scores of 190 marked as the team's highest for the tournament.
On the women's side, junior
Jaycie Arnet led the women's team, placing 27th with a total individual score of 493. The Ohio native bowled a 142 in game one, a 180 in game two, and a 172 in game three, with the 180 in game two marking as the team's best of the day.
In baker action, the first set saw the men score a series of 135,154,129,179, and 177, five-game scores, while the second set read 202,162,136,162, and 182 scores to finish. The team's 202 total pin-fall in the first game of the second baker set marked the team's best.
The women also participated in baker-play, scoring 115,167,128,148, and 115 in the first set, and a 150, 134, 118, 101, and 155 to finish. the 167 in the second game of the first set marked the highest for the Gray wolves in baker play.
