FORT WAYNE, Ind. (LourdesAthletics.com) -- Transfer,
Breno Quieroz of the Lourdes University men's soccer team
scored in the second half of the 2-1 loss to the host Warriors of Indiana Tech University Wednesday night in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic conference match.
"Indiana Tech showed why they're in the top-20, but we also showed that we can hang with the best of them," said head coach
Matt Johnson. "Our guys are showing tremendous growth and identity day by day. We look forward to another battle against the University of Northwestern Ohio next Saturday.
The first half saw the host Warriors score in the 24th minute to take a 1-0 lead heading into halftime.
Quieroz's strike, which was assisted off the boot of
Eli Bride, came in the second to even the score at one each, before ITU sealed the deal, netting the game-winner in the near-80th minute.
In goal, senior
Yianni Kanellopoulos played all 90 minutes, earning five saves.
Match Notes:
- Kanellopoulos' five saves marked the second time this season the senior has earned five or more saves in a single match.
- Quieroz's goal was his second as a Gray Wolf after scoring against Grace College, Sept. 14.
- Earning just his second career assist was Bride. The last time the senior helped on a goal was in the 2023 campaign when he did so against Siena Heights, Oct. 21.
