SYLVANIA, Ohio (LourdesAthletics.com) -- In a nail-biting finish, Lourdes University's men's soccer team was left reeling after a late goal in the 89th minute handed Holy Cross College a narrow 1-0 victory Saturday, Sept. 7 at Wildcat Stadium.
The first half of action was a defensive battle with both teams earning over eight fouls each. The Gray Wolves' offense overpowered the Saints', taking seven shots, four of which were on frame, to the opposing two from Holy Cross. Both schools headed into halftime scoreless and without a single corner kick attempt.
The final half of Saturday night's match was jam-packed with action as Lourdes drew four yellow flags within the last 25 minutes in an attempt to stop the Saints from scoring. Despite great efforts, the visiting offense strung together a late strike in the final minute, leaving little room for the Lourdes men to respond.
Back in goal was senior goalkeeper
Alex Brock, who tallied three saves off four shots, allowing one goal.
