LIMA, Ohio (LourdesAthletics.com) -- The Lourdes University men's basketball team suffered a hard-fought 83-77 loss to the University of Northwestern Ohio on Saturday afternoon at The Garage in Lima, Ohio. Despite a strong first-half showing and a game-high 21 points from Shaunn Monroe, the Gray Wolves (12-5, 6-3 WHAC) were unable to maintain their momentum as the Racers (10-7, 6-4 WHAC) surged late to secure the win.
Lourdes shot an impressive 53.6% from the floor in the opening 20 minutes, building a 41-37 halftime lead behind balanced contributions. Monroe paced the team, converting 8-of-9 free throws and adding four rebounds, while Devyn Jones tallied 13 points, seven boards, and a team-high four assists. Derek Fairley provided a spark off the bench, connecting on 3-of-4 from beyond the arc and finishing with 15 points.
Northwestern Ohio responded with a dominant second half, outscoring Lourdes 46-36 while capitalizing on timely three-point shooting and a decisive 15-8 edge in second-chance points. The Gray Wolves struggled to maintain their efficiency, shooting just 39.4% in the final period, including 1-of-5 from three-point range.
Despite their challenges, Lourdes saw significant contributions across the lineup. Kendall Perkins added 10 points and five rebounds, while Ross Thompson grabbed a team-high nine boards. Prakash Ketterhagen chipped in eight points and five rebounds in his starting role.
