SYLVANIA, Ohio (LourdesAthletics.com) --Â The Lourdes University men's basketball team secured a 72-65 victory over Siena Heights University on Wednesday evening at the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center, improving to 13-5 overall and 7-3 in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play. The Gray Wolves remain as the only WHAC member to be perfect at home this season, holding a 8-0 home record.Â
Shaunn Monroe carried the Gray Wolves with 38 points, going 12-of-17 from the floor, including 3-of-4 from beyond the arc, and a flawless 11-for-11 at the free-throw line. He added seven assists and two steals to round out a remarkable night. Monroe is just nine points away from joining the Lourdes 1,000 Career Points Club, in just two seasons as a Gray Wolf.Â
Lourdes shot an impressive 60% from the floor in the opening 20 minutes, building a 10-point halftime lead.
Devyn Jones contributed 10 points on 5-of-6 shooting and grabbed five rebounds, while Adonus Abrams added eight points and a team-high seven boards off the bench. The Gray Wolves dominated in efficiency, converting 77.8% of their free throws compared to Siena Heights' 73.9%.
Siena Heights was paced by George Kalatzis, who matched Monroe's scoring with 38 points of his own, accounting for more than half of the Saints' total offense. Lourdes' defense, however, limited the rest of the Saints to just 27 combined points, while forcing 10 turnovers.
Despite a quieter offensive output in the second half, Lourdes maintained their composure to fend off a late push from Siena Heights. The Gray Wolves' bench also played a pivotal role, outscoring the Saints' reserves 13-7.
