SYLVANIA, Ohio (LourdesAthletics.com) --Â The Lourdes University women's basketball team picked up a key Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference victory Wednesday night, defeating Siena Heights University 67-64 inside the Russell J. Ebeid Rec Center. The Gray Wolves improved to 12-6 overall and 7-4 in league play, keeping themselves in the mix near the top of the conference standings.
The Gray Wolves started strong, shooting 64.3% in the first quarter to take a 20-14 lead. Siena Heights fought back in the second, but Lourdes held a 35-30 edge at halftime. The second half was a back-and-forth battle with three ties and four lead changes before Lourdes pulled ahead for good late in the fourth.
Tamyah Worthy led Lourdes with 14 points, going 5-of-7 from the field and a perfect 4-of-4 at the free-throw line. Emma Pedroza added 13 points and eight rebounds, while Nadeen Jemaa matched her 13 points, hitting three triples. Grace Ryan finished with 12 points and four boards.
Lourdes shot 52.8% from the floor and 45.5% from three-point range while scoring 32 points in the paint. Siena Heights (10-8, 7-3 WHAC) held a slight 28-26 rebounding advantage but couldn't overcome their 13 turnovers.
