Women's Basketball Secures Fourth Straight Victory with 65-55 Win over Madonna

The win marks the 10th conference victory matching the program record for WHAC wins.

LIVONIA, Mich. (LourdesAthletics.com) -- The Lourdes University's women's basketball team continued its winning streak on Wednesday evening, earning a 65-55 road victory over Madonna University inside the ACCU Arena. With the win, the Gray Wolves improved to 15-6 overall and 10-4 in the WHAC, matching the program's single-season conference victory record set by the 2023-24 squad.

The Gray Wolves set the tone early, outscoring the Crusaders 19-12 in the opening quarter before taking a 33-26 lead into halftime. Madonna closed the gap in the third, but Lourdes responded with a strong fourth quarter, outscoring the hosts 21-15 to secure the double-digit win.

Emma Pedroza led Lourdes with 15 points while adding five rebounds and two steals. Macie Stringfellow provided an efficient 14-point effort, shooting 6-of-10 from the floor. Nadeen Jemaa contributed 12 points, knocking down three three-pointers while collecting six rebounds. Tamyah Worthy anchored the defense with seven rebounds and four steals to go along with eight points, while Oliwia Dyja and Grace Ryan each chipped in eight points, with Ryan going 8-of-10 from the free-throw line.

Lourdes' defense proved pivotal once again, forcing nine steals and holding Madonna to 38.3% shooting. The Gray Wolves knocked down 42.9% of their three-point attempts and converted 15 free throws, including 11 in the final period to help seal the win.

Now riding a four-game winning streak, Lourdes will look to set a new program record for WHAC victories on Saturday when they return home to host Defiance College. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m. inside the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center.
