Lourdes University put together one of its most efficient offensive performances of the season Wednesday afternoon, defeating Michigan-Dearborn 31-29, 25-12, 22-25, 25-9 inside The Fieldhouse.
The Gray Wolves hit a season-best .353 as a team, finishing with 61 kills against just 14 errors. Senior
Rachel Allison led the way with 15 kills and three blocks, while senior
Jolie Sobb also notched 15 kills to go with 10 digs and two block assists. Sophomore
Mia Karl was nearly unstoppable in the middle, posting 12 kills on 15 swings without an error (.800) and adding three block assists.
Freshman
Teliya Cole added nine kills at a .727 clip with two block assists, while sophomore
Aleya Baptiste chipped in nine kills, seven digs, and two service aces. Setter
Zoe Schuele directed the attack with 47 assists, 11 digs, and a service ace, while libero
Emma Coffey anchored the defense with a team-high 20 digs and a service ace.
Lourdes outdug the Wolverines 65-48 and finished with nine service aces and 6.0 team blocks. After surviving a marathon first set 31-29, the Gray Wolves dominated the second frame, hitting .536. Following a narrow third-set loss, Lourdes closed strong, limiting UM-Dearborn to just two kills in the fourth set while rolling 25-9.
The win moves Lourdes to 5-10 overall and 1-8 in WHAC play, while UM-Dearborn falls to 2-13 (0-7 WHAC).
