SYLVANIA, Ohio – Lourdes University women's basketball remained unbeaten Saturday afternoon, dominating East-West University 94–32 inside the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center.
The Gray Wolves (3–0) controlled the game from start to finish, racing to a 22–7 lead after one quarter and holding East-West to just 2 points in the second period to take a commanding 39–9 halftime advantage.
Junior
Kaylona Butler (Toledo, Ohio / Toledo Christian HS) led Lourdes with 26 points on 10-of-15 shooting while going a perfect 5-for-5 from the free throw line. Senior
Emma Pedroza (Napoleon, Ohio / Napoleon HS) added 16 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists, while senior
Diana Morales-Kharetchko (Madrid, Spain) came off the bench to post 13 points and 8 rebounds in 15 minutes.
The Gray Wolves shot 49.3% from the floor and outrebounded the Phantoms 57–33, while forcing 25 turnovers and turning them into 30 points. Lourdes also received 34 points from its bench, with
Carly Maple (Sylvania, Ohio / Northview HS) contributing 10 points and 7 rebounds, and
Camryn Ivy (Woodmore, Ohio / Woodmore HS) adding 8 points and 5 boards.
Senior
Tamyah Worthy (Toledo, Ohio / Start HS) directed the offense with 8 assists, 3 steals, and a strong defensive presence as Lourdes held East-West to just 21% shooting for the game.
Liberty led East-West with 17 points, while Castro added 4 points and 5 rebounds.
Lourdes (3–0) returns to action Wednesday, November 19, traveling to Madonna University to open WHAC play. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. in Livonia, Michigan.
