SYLVANIA, Ohio — Lourdes women's basketball pushed its perfect start to 7–0 on Tuesday evening, using a strong defensive effort and a decisive second quarter to defeat Rochester Christian 72–54 inside the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center.
Junior
Kaylona Butler (Toledo, Ohio / Toledo Christian HS) led the Gray Wolves with 23 points and 9 rebounds, attacking the rim early and adding three steals to spark the transition game. Senior
Emma Pedroza (Napoleon, Ohio / Napoleon HS) added 24 points, six rebounds, and three steals while knocking down three triples.
Lourdes (7–0, 4–0 WHAC) dominated the second quarter, outscoring the Warriors 18–6 to build a 37–18 halftime lead. The Gray Wolves finished with 26 points off turnovers, forcing 22 Rochester Christian miscues while committing only 12 of their own.
Senior
Camryn Ivy (Woodville, Ohio / Woodmore HS) delivered her most efficient outing of the season with 14 points on 7-of-9 shooting, adding six rebounds.
Tamyah Worthy (Toledo, Ohio / Start HS) contributed 8 points, 7 boards, and 3 assists, while
Oliwia Dyja (Sosnowiec, Poland) added 5 rebounds and two points from the free-throw line.
Rochester Christian (3–4, 3–1 WHAC) was led by Kendal Zeiter's 13 points and 8 rebounds, while Mylah Aalse scored 11.
The Gray Wolves shot 40.8% from the field and held the Warriors to 33.9%, controlling the paint and winning the rebounding battle 44–41. Lourdes never trailed after the opening minutes, pushing its lead to as many as 23.
Lourdes returns to action on Saturday, Nov. 29, when the Gray Wolves travel to face Concordia (Mich.) in another WHAC matchup.
