Men's Basketball Upsets League-Leading Warriors at Home; 83-77

Shaunn Monroe’s all-around performance and strong bench contributions lift Gray Wolves past Warriors.

SYLVANIA, Ohio (LourdesAthletics.com) -- The Lourdes University men's basketball team delivered a statement win on Saturday afternoon, defeating Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference-leading Indiana Tech University 83-77 at the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center. The Gray Wolves (19-7, 13-5 WHAC) built an early lead and held off the Warriors (19-5, 16-1 WHAC) in the second half to secure the upset.

Shaunn Monroe led Lourdes with a near double-double, tallying 16 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists while also contributing four steals. The Gray Wolves' bench played a crucial role, outscoring Indiana Tech's reserves 33-10, with Derek Fairley providing a spark, finishing with 17 points. Derrell Jones added 14 points, including clutch free throws in the closing moments.

Lourdes jumped ahead early, shooting 46% in the first half while limiting the Warriors to 40%, taking a 44-37 advantage into the break. Indiana Tech responded in the second half, briefly taking the lead, but Lourdes answered with a strong final stretch, shooting 50% in the last 20 minutes and hitting five second-half threes.

Lourdes forced 10 turnovers and converted them into 15 points, maintaining control in key moments.
