GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (LourdesAthletics.com) – The Lourdes University women's basketball team continued its record-setting season with a thrilling road win Tuesday evening, knocking off second-ranked Aquinas College 62-61 in an entertaining finish at the Sturrus Sports Center. Junior guard Emma Pedroza delivered a clutch-shot in the final seconds to give Lourdes the advantage and secure a spot in the semi-finals of the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference tournament.
The Gray Wolves trailed late but delivered when needed most, holding the Saints to just two field goals in the fourth quarter while coming up with key plays down the stretch. Pedroza led the way with 24 points, knocking down four threes, while Macie Stringfellow added 14 points and a team-high eight rebounds. Tamyah Worthy had a big night on the glass as well, finishing with nine boards to go with 11 points.
Lourdes came out strong, shooting nearly 40% in the first quarter to grab an early lead. Aquinas responded in the second, using an 8-for-8 effort at the free-throw line to build a 12-point advantage. The Gray Wolves battled back in the second half, locking in defensively and forcing tough shots as the Saints shot just 5-for-23 after halftime.
Despite struggling offensively in the third, Lourdes caught fire in the fourth, shooting nearly 53% from the floor to pull off the comeback. A physical battle on the glass saw the Gray Wolves hold a 46-36 rebounding edge, while their defense forced 13 Aquinas turnovers.

The women's team will prepare to travel to Lima, Ohio to face the No. 6 Racers of the University of Northwestern Ohio on Friday, Feb. 28th. The time is still to be determined.
