SYLVANIA, Ohio (LourdesAthletics.com) -- The Lourdes University men's basketball team was unable to extend its winning streak, falling to Rochester Christian University, 90-75, on Wednesday evening at the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center. With the loss, the Gray Wolves drop to 17-7 overall and 11-5 in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC).
Lourdes battled early, keeping the game close before heading into halftime trailing by nine—the largest lead of the first half for either team. Despite the deficit, the Gray Wolves found success from beyond the arc, shooting 44% from three-point range compared to Rochester's 20% in the opening 20 minutes. However, the Warriors controlled the interior, outscoring Lourdes 46-34 in the paint.
Momentum remained in Rochester's favor for much of the game, with the Warriors dictating play through efficient shooting, defensive pressure, and foul trouble on the Lourdes side. The Gray Wolves struggled to gain rhythm in the second half, as early foul trouble slowed their offensive attack. Adonus Abrams and Derrell Jones both logged significant minutes, surpassing their season averages.
The Warriors were led by standout performances from James Fisher and Brett White, who poured in 32 and 31 points, respectively. Shaunn Monroe led Lourdes in both scoring and assists, providing a steady presence for the Gray Wolves.
Despite the loss, Lourdes capitalized on Rochester's mistakes, scoring 18 points off turnovers. The Gray Wolves also saw strong contributions from their bench, outscoring Rochester's reserves 26-0. Abrams and Jones led the way off the bench with key offensive contributions.
