GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (LourdesAthletics.com) -- The Lourdes University men's basketball team used a dominant second half to pull away from Aquinas College, securing a 66-36 road victory on Saturday afternoon at the Sturrus Sports Center. With the win, the Gray Wolves improved to 18-7 overall and 12-5 in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC).
Lourdes held a slim 25-23 lead at halftime after a defensive battle in the opening period. However, the Gray Wolves erupted in the second half, outscoring the Saints 41-13 behind a blistering 53.8% shooting performance from the field and a 9-of-16 effort from beyond the arc.
Shaunn Monroe led the charge with a game-high 22 points, knocking down six three-pointers while also grabbing eight rebounds. Prakash Ketterhagen provided a steady offensive presence, finishing with 13 points, while Paxton Payne added eight.
Defensively, Lourdes locked down Aquinas in the second half, limiting the Saints to just 13 points and 4-of-25 shooting (16.0%) over the final 20 minutes. The Gray Wolves also dominated the glass, holding a 39-28 rebounding advantage.
