Speight Places Fifth as Lourdes Wraps Up Season at NAIA National Championships

The team finishes 22nd in the country out of 54 teams; One of just three WHAC Members in the Top-25

WICHITA, Kan. (LourdesAthletics.com)-- Lourdes University men's wrestling capped off its season with a 22nd-place finish at the NAIA National Championships, scoring 21.0 team points to rank among the nation's top programs. The Gray Wolves were one of three WHAC teams to finish inside the top 25 at the event, held in Wichita, Kan.

Will Speight capped off an outstanding season by earning fifth place at 184 pounds, securing his second career NAIA All-American honor. The 2024-25 WHAC Wrestler of the Year and First Team All-WHAC selection advanced deep into the championship bracket, ultimately closing his tournament with a dominant 17-2 technical fall victory over Corban's Isaiah Twait in the fifth-place match. A four-time NAIA National Qualifier, Speight's performance further cemented his place among the top wrestlers in program history.

Cole McKinley and Carter Kroll also represented Lourdes on the national stage, gaining valuable experience while competing against the NAIA's best. McKinley and Kroll, both in their second national appearance, each fought through tough brackets, contributing to the Gray Wolves' team scoring effort.

With the national tournament complete, Lourdes concludes another strong season, continuing to build its presence among the NAIA's top wrestling programs.
