SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (LourdesAthletics.com) -- The Lourdes University men's volleyball team battled against fourth-ranked Lawrence Tech University on Tuesday afternoon but came up short in a 25-13, 22-25, 25-17, 25-21 setback inside the Don Ridler Fieldhouse. The Gray Wolves saw their four-match winning streak snapped, moving to 9-7 overall and 6-4 in WHAC play.
Vinicius Lopes led the Lourdes attack with 15 kills while adding eight digs, and Jaber Badarne turned in a strong all-around performance with 14 kills and a match-high six blocks. Joey Bianco dished out 32 assists and served up two of the Gray Wolves' six aces, while Brayden Moyars led the team with nine digs.
After struggling in the opening set, Lourdes responded with an efficient second frame, hitting .222 while limiting the Blue Devils to a .154 clip. The Gray Wolves held off a late push to even the match at a set apiece before Lawrence Tech regained control in the third, using a .320 hitting percentage in the final frame to secure the victory.
Despite outblocking Lawrence Tech 8-10, Lourdes hit just .092 on the afternoon while the Blue Devils finished at a .309 clip.
