TOLEDO, Ohio (LourdesAthletics.com) – The Lourdes University baseball team opened Sunday's Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference doubleheader in dominant fashion with a 9-0 shutout victory over Madonna University at Mercy Field before the Crusaders rallied late to edge the Gray Wolves 7-6 in game two.
Game One: Lourdes 9, Madonna 0
Lourdes delivered a complete performance in the opener, racking up 15 hits and getting a dominant start from Caleb Loboschefski in a 9-0 shutout of Madonna at Mercy Field.
Jase Kennedy got the Gray Wolves rolling with a solo homer to left in the second. Lourdes added two more runs in the third on RBI hits from Alex Dupree and Caleb Edwards-Dugan. A three-run fourth inning, featuring an RBI single by Joel Suraganan, a run-scoring knock from Andrew Arntson, and a deep RBI double to center by Dupree, pushed the lead to 6-0.
The Gray Wolves kept applying pressure as Gray Harmer drove in a run in the fifth, and Dupree capped his big game with a two-run homer to right in the sixth.
Dupree led the way, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, a double, and a homer. Kennedy and Suraganan each had two hits and an RBI, while Arntson added two hits, a walk, and an RBI of his own. Lourdes finished with five extra-base hits, including home runs from Dupree and Kennedy.

Game Two: Lourdes 6, Madonna 7
Madonna used a pair of late-inning rallies to erase a three-run deficit and defeat Lourdes 7-6 in the second game of Sunday's doubleheader at Mercy Field.
Lourdes grabbed early momentum in the bottom of the second inning, plating three runs. Jase Kennedy tied the game with a solo home run to right, Nick DiGennaro tripled home Caleb Edwards-Dugan, and A.J. Brinson followed with an infield single to score DiGennaro, giving the Gray Wolves a 3-1 lead.
Madonna responded with two runs in the fourth, capitalizing on a balk to bring home one run before an RBI single tied the game at 3-3. Lourdes answered right back in the bottom half, as Joel Suraganan delivered a two-run single to center, putting the Gray Wolves ahead 5-3.
The hosts tacked on another run in the sixth inning when Andrew Arntson grounded out to second, allowing Gray Harmer to score and extend the Lourdes lead to 6-3.
The Crusaders mounted a comeback in the seventh, stringing together four hits before a late long-ball by the visitors in the ninth would be enough to secure the 7-6 victory.Â

Brenden Holland (0-3) suffered the loss in relief, while Logan Ellis (1-1) earned the win for Madonna after tossing four innings with three strikeouts and two hit batters.
