No. 3 Men's Volleyball Set to Host No. 6 Siena Heights in WHAC Quarterfinals

The match is scheduled for Tuesday, April 15th at 7 pm inside the REC Center

SYLVANIA, Ohio (LourdesAthletics.com) –
For the fifth consecutive season in program history, the Lourdes University men's volleyball team is set to compete in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Championship Tournament. The No. 3 seed Gray Wolves (15-9, 11-5 WHAC) will host sixth-seeded Siena Heights (12-12, 7-9 WHAC) in a quarterfinal matchup on Tuesday, April 15 at 7 p.m. inside the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center.

GAME INFORMATION
The match will be streamed for free on the Lourdes Hudl TV page, with live stats also available. Tickets for the game are priced at $10 for adults and $7 for senior citizens and children nine years of age and older. Tickets will be available online in advance and at the door. Children eight and under will be admitted free of charge. 
    Fans can follow along on social media for in-game updates. The winner of Tuesday's contest will advance to the WHAC semifinals on Thursday, April 17, with a spot in Saturday's championship match on the line.

MAKING WHAC TOURNAMENT HISTORY 
Lourdes (15-9) earned the No. 3 seed in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Tournament after finishing third in the regular-season standings. The Gray Wolves are making their fifth consecutive appearance in the WHAC Tournament and look to build upon a strong postseason tradition. Overall, Lourdes holds a 76-17 record in WHAC play and is 5-3 all-time in the WHAC Tournament. Prior to joining the WHAC, Lourdes posted a 48-14 record in conference/group play with a 13-3 mark in conference/group tournaments. The Gray Wolves also own a 6-11 record in NAIA National Invitational play.  

LAST SEASON'S TOURNEY 
Last season, Lourdes entered the WHAC Tournament as the No. 1 overall seed and hosted the semifinal and championship rounds at the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center. After a first-round bye, the Gray Wolves were upset in the semifinals by fifth-seeded Lawrence Tech in a five-set battle.

HEAD COACH GREG REITZ'S 500TH
Head Coach Greg Reitz has been leading the Lourdes University men's volleyball program for 15 years and recently achieved a major milestone—his 500th career win. With an impressive 494 of those victories coming at the helm of the Gray Wolves, Coach Greg Reitz has built a reputation for consistent success and growth. His career record now stands at 500-323, a solid .646 win percentage. 

WHAC PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
Throughout the 2025 season, several Lourdes men's volleyball players earned WHAC Player of the Week honors. Brayden Moyars earned his fifth WHAC Defender of the Week award, showcasing his defensive skills. Vinicius Lopes was named WHAC Offensive Player of the Week as well as a Defender of the Week with consistent kills, a high hitting percentage, and a presence on defense. Joey Bianco earned Setter of the Week honors for his exceptional playmaking and assists. 

LEADER'S IN THE WHAC
The Lourdes men's volleyball team is well-represented among the WHAC leaders this season. Vinicius Lopes ranks tied for second in the conference with 3.73 kills per set, while also placing third in digs per set (2.02) and fourth in total digs (168). Brayden Moyars leads the league in both digs per set (3.41) and total digs (290), showcasing his defensive dominance. Jaber Badarne ranks fifth in service aces per set with 0.45, while Joey Bianco is fifth in assists per set, averaging 7.85.

SCOUTING THE NO. 3 GRAY WOLVES
Lourdes enters the WHAC Tournament on a strong note, riding a four-match win streak after sweeping three opponents, including a dominant 3-0 victory over No. 11-ranked Cornerstone last week. The Gray Wolves have been firing on all cylinders, with Vinicius Lopes leading the offense, ranking second in the conference with 3.73 kills per set. Defensively, Brayden Moyars continues to shine, leading the WHAC in digs per set (3.41) and total digs (290). Joey Bianco has been a key playmaker, averaging 7.85 assists per set, while Jaber Badarne provides a consistent service threat, ranking fifth in the conference with 0.45 service aces per set. Lourdes' well-rounded team has excelled in both offense and defense, positioning them as a strong contender heading into the tournament.

SCOUTING NO. 6 SIENA HEIGHTS
Siena Heights enters the tournament with a 12-12 overall record and a 7-9 mark in the WHAC. The Saints have been competitive throughout the season, averaging 10.77 kills per set and 9.74 assists per set. They have a solid defense, posting 2.06 blocks per set and 7.75 digs per set. Their offense is bolstered by strong serving, with 1.86 service aces per set.

UP NEXT
The winner of Tuesday's WHAC quarterfinal matchup will advance to the semifinals on Thursday, April 17, where they will face either the No. 2 or No. 1 seed. A spot in the WHAC championship match on Saturday, April 19, will be on the line.
