Lourdes University battled with one of the WHAC's top teams Friday night but came up short in a four-set loss to Cornerstone (23-25, 25-15, 25-11, 25-23) inside the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center.
Senior
Jolie Sobb led the Gray Wolves' attack with 16 kills and added 11 digs for a double-double. Sophomore
Aleya Baptiste had one of her best all-around matches of the season with 14 kills, 17 digs, and two service aces. Senior
Rachel Allison chipped in eight kills and 10 digs, while sophomore
Mia Karl recorded six kills and two blocks.
Setter
Zoe Schuele guided the offense with 38 assists and added three service aces and 16 digs, while senior libero
Emma Coffey anchored the back row with a team-best 18 digs.
Lourdes opened strong, taking the first set 25-23 behind timely kills from Baptiste and Sobb. Cornerstone responded by controlling the second and third frames with efficient hitting and serving. The Gray Wolves rallied in the fourth set, closing within two late behind Schuele's serving run, but the Golden Eagles sealed the match at 25-23.
With the loss, Lourdes falls to 4-9 overall and 0-7 in WHAC play.
