SYLVANIA, Ohio – Lourdes sophomore guard
Adonus Abrams received his first Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Defensive Player of the Week selection of the season on Monday afternoon.
Abrams earned the honor after setting two career-highs this week with 11 rebounds against Lawrence Tech and four steals against IU Columbus. Overall, Abrams had 18 rebounds and eight steals this week and was a key defensive presence on the wing that helped the Gray Wolves secure three consecutive victories.Â
Abrams, a sophomore from Columbus, Ohio, is having a great sophomore campaign on both ends of the court. He is currently averaging 9.8 points per game and 3.6 assists per game on offense. Defensively, he has three blocks, 30 steals - the second-highest mark in the WHAC- and averages 3.6 rebounds per game.
After starting in half the games last season, Abrams has improved his overall game in his second year and now has become the Gray Wolves everyday wing player; starting in 13 out of 14 contests thus far. Abrams and the rest of the Lourdes men's basketball team will face off against No. 9 Indiana Tech for a battle for first place in the WHAC on Wednesday, Jan. 7 at 8 pm in Fort Wayne, Ind.Â
