SYLVANIA, Ohio – The Lourdes women's basketball team earned 15 conference postseason awards across 10 different players, the conference announced Wednesday afternoon.
Highlighting the group of winners was senior forward
Tamyah Worthy. The local Toledo Start high school graduate won the WHAC Defensive Player of the Year award, made the WHAC All-Defense team, made the All-WHAC 2
nd-Team, and made the WHAC All-Academic Team.
Worthy led the league with 84 steals this season, shattering the Lourdes single-season steals record by double digits. Her All-Defensive team selection was her second in a row after she excelled with 71 steals last season as well.
Junior guard
Kaylona Butler won WHAC Newcomer of the Year for her superb scoring ability and rebounding resilience. Butler also was selected to the All-WHAC 1
st-Team. Butler averaged 20.6 points per game, the second-most in the conference. She also averaged five rebounds a game despite being just 5-foot-7.
Butler's season highlight was scoring a career-high 39 points against Saint Mary of-the-Woods. The performance was the second most points scored by a Lourdes player in a game in program history.
Rounding out the WHAC Team selections was senior guard
Emma Pedroza. Pedroza made the All-WHAC 1
st-Team due to her ability to impact the game from all three levels of the court. Pedroza led the team in assists with 4.1 per game, was second on the team and third in the conference with 19.9 points per game, and was second on the team with 6.5 rebounds per game.
Pedroza 's highlight of the season was getting the second triple-double in Lourdes women's basketball program history against Saint Mary of-the-Woods.
Junior guard
Ashley Zawisza won the WHAC Champions of Character selection for the team. Zawisza was also one of eight Gray Wolves selected to the WHAC All-Academic Team. The list also included Worthy, Kambry & Karsen Edwards,
Grace Ryan,
Oliwia Dyja,
Carly Maple, and
Camryn Ivy.
