SYLVANIA, Ohio – Lourdes freshman outside hitter
Tsimafei Lesko has won WHAC Defender of the Week, the conference announced this afternoon.
Lesko had a fantastic week of volleyball across all four matches for Lourdes. The six-foot-eight Minsk, Belarus native set a career-high in kills with 23 and a career-high in blocks with nine at the Judson match. He was instrumental in helping Lourdes complete the reverse sweep victory over the Eagles.
Lesko had 52 kills across four matches this week, averaging four per set. However, even more impressive was his defensive ability at the net. Lesko had six blocks total coming into the week. In the week alone he had 16 blocks.
Lesko is now second on the team in kills (125), second on the team in service aces (17), and fourth on the team in blocks (22.0). He is achieving this defensive prowess as the only underclassman to have over 20 blocks on the team this season. With his size and athleticism, Lesko could be a powerful defensive presence at the net for teams for years to come.
Lesko and the No. 8-ranked Gray Wolves men's volleyball team will take on WHAC-foe Indiana Tech a home tomorrow at 7pm.
