Lourdes Women's Basketball Gets 1st Victory

Freshman Emily Orsini scores 18 points in Gray Wolves victory
On Saturday afternoon the Lourdes University Women's basketball team hit the road to Goshen, IN. The trip was well worth it for the Gray Wolves as they defeated Goshen College and earned their first ever victory as a program 82-74.

The Gray Wolves played strong and used their height and depth advantage to claim the victory. The first half was not exactly what the Gray Wolves had hoped for as they trailed at the break 41-39. But halftime adjustments proved to be key for Lourdes as they started the second half with full court pressure that helped contribute to fast break points. The Gray Wolves caused 19 turnovers total for the game and really stepped up their three point shooting to get the win.

Freshman Forward Emily Orsini led the Gray Wolves in scoring on the day with 18 points including five of the teams seven three point field goals. The Gray Wolves ended the game with five players in double figures including Lauren Tilden (10), Darmii Warner (14), Tarynn Hampton (13) and Tymea Dunbar (12).

“We fought back after being down at halftime and in the second half we executed and rebounded in helping us win the game. It feels good to get the monkey off our back” said Coach Zareth Gray after the victory.

Notes:
Lourdes out rebounded the Maple Leafs 62-32. Lourdes finished with 43% shooting from the floor and 52% from the free throw line.

The Gray Wolves move to 1-1 overall and will be back in action on Wednesday November 2ns=d at Marygrove University at 6pm.
