The Lourdes University Men's Basketball team hosted Concordia University in the Central Catholic Gymnasium on Wednesday night.
Early on in the first half it looked as if the Gray Wolves were in route to a blowout as they jumped out 6-0 following a
Corey Harvey two point basket in the paint after back to back buckets by
John Brown. The Gray Wolves would build a 12 point lead that would quickly evaporate though as the Cardinals would go on a 15-0 run to take the lead 17-16. The Gray Wolves would trail at halftime 27-24.
John Willhite and
Corey Harvey led the Gray Wolves with seven points apiece in the first half.
John Brown had six points and five rebounds.
The Gray Wolves would find themselves down big by 11 points early in the second half where it would remain for nearly four minutes. The lead would grow after each trip up and down the court for the Cardinals as they would push it to 15 points at 51-36. The Gray Wolves would rally though as the defense would crank it up a notch for Lourdes especially inside not allowing any easy layups and only one chance opportunities. Before the Cardinals knew what hit them the Gray Wolves would find themselves down only 53-51 with 3:06 remaining.
The Gray Wolves would play tough all the way to the end but would eventually come up short 57-55. The loss drops the Gray Wolves to 5-6 overall and 1-2 in WHAC play. The next game for the Men's team will be at Cornerstone 12-10 at 3pm.
