Lourdes Womens Golf Blows Away Record In Victory

Lourdes University Women's Golf team hit the road to start out their 2011-12 campaign and won in decisive fashion defeating Indiana University-East at the Highland Lake Golf Course in Richmond, IN. on Friday.

With a gorgeous day outside and a course set up for good numbers the players didn't disappoint.
The Gray Wolves saw good scores posted on a tough par 72 6,213 yard course. The weather conditions were set for good numbers on the day and the Gray Wolves didn't disappoint with Brooke Darah pacing the way with an 81, good enough for top honors on the day. Coming in second place was Lourdes own Kallie Brayfogle who posted a score of 90. Alexis Stock played as an individual scorer and finished tied for third place with a score of 91. Lindsay Lehman finished fifth followed by teammate Roberta Craider in sixth. Rounding out the Lourdes scorers was Jen Ballard in ninth place.

Coach Scott Simon said following the match that “The women played outstanding, I am very happy with especially how the freshmen played. It just shows how much a young program is evolving and I couldn't be more proud of the team and their record breaking day.”

It was a record breaking day for the team as they shattered their previous best team tournament score.
In team scoring Lourdes dominated the Red Wolves with a final tally of 367 to 428.

Notes: Brooke Darah finished in the top spot in a tourney for the fourth time as a member of the Lourdes golf team.

Next up for the Gray Wolves will be a trip to Ada, MI. for the WHAC Jamboree 1 against Cornerstone University. The teams will compete on the Quail Ridge GC on September 13th.
