Men's Golf Has Rough Time In Lou Collins Memorial Classic

Freshman Chad Nock is top finisher for the Gray Wolves at Lou Collins Memorial Classic
On a par 71 course that was nearly 7000 yards long it was a tough go for the Gray Wolves.  Lourdes would come in 15th place overall in their first official team match of the year.

“I think we found nearly every tree on the course. We did get to try out a lot of new punch out shots it seemed” said Head Golf Coach Scott Simon following the tournament.

Freshman Chad Nock would be the top finisher for the Gray Wolves as he would finish in a tie for 63rd place shooting an 80 and 84 for a combined 164 over the two days.

Freshman Josh Perry would finish alone in 80th place with a two day total of 182.

Freshman Gary McGinnis would finish in 81st place with a combined two day total of 188.

It was an especially rough tournament for Sophomore Brandon Henry as he would have to withdraw from the tournament after day one due to an injury. Henry had shot an 84 on day one.

“We still competed and I am very proud of the guys for that. We have a lot of work to do before our next match. This is a tough tournament with some very good golfers from some traditionally tough schools and programs” said Coach Scoot Simon.

Next up for the men's team is a match on Wednesday Sept. 7th in Grand Rapids, MI. for the first WHAC Jamboree hosted by Aquinas College at the Highlands Golf Club.
