BLUFFTON, Ohio – A blistering first round from freshman
Edward Robertson (Maumee, Ohio/Anthony Wayne) helped the Lourdes University men's golf team to a runner-up finish at the Bluffton Beaver Fall Invitational this weekend at Bluffton Golf Club.
The Gray Wolves posted team scores of 287 and 302 for a 36-hole total of 589 (+13), finishing just one shot behind Northwestern Ohio's "B" team in the eight-team field.
Robertson led Lourdes with rounds of 67 and 75 to finish tied for second overall at 2-under par (142). His opening-round 67 was the second-lowest individual score of the tournament, and his 10 birdies ranked third among all players.
Sophomore
Jonathan Huston (Genoa, Ohio/Genoa Area) and senior
Justin Altenbach (Lima, Ohio/Shawnee) each tied for sixth individually at 148 (+4). Huston recorded an eagle and 25 pars over the two days, while Altenbach was among the tournament leaders in par-3 scoring average (2.88).
Freshman
Brock Fussell (Oregon, Ohio/Clay) finished tied for 27th at 157 (+13), and junior
Charlie Robertson (Whitehouse, Ohio/Anthony Wayne) closed out the scoring lineup tied for 29th at 158 (+14).
The strong team showing marks one of the most complete performances of the fall for Lourdes, which finished as the top WHAC program in the field.
The Gray Wolves return to action on Tuesday, October 8, competing in the Cleary Invitational at Huntmore Golf Club in Brighton, Michigan, before concluding their fall slate on October 13 with the Lourdes Invitational at Legacy Golf Club in Sylvania.
