The Lourdes University Men's Basketball team was on the road in Dearborn, MI. on Wednesday night taking on the Crusaders of Madonna University. The Gray Wolves would get their third WHAC win of the season with a 61-56 victory.
The Gray Wolves brought the defense early in the first half allowing only 19 points to the Crusaders. The Gray Wolves held the Crusaders to just 33% shooting on 6 of 18 shooting. The Gray Wolves held a 10 point lead late with 2:39 remaining before free throws brought the Crusaders closer at 27-19 at the break.
Eight different Lourdes players scored in the first half with
Marcus Outlaw leading with six points.
John Washington led with five rebounds. The Gray Wolves shot 44% from the floor despite going 0-5 from beyond the arc.
The second half would prove to be a lot closer battle for Lourdes as they would be outscored 37-34 by the Crusaders. The Gray Wolves would finish the game shooting a very respectable 48% from the field including 2 for 8 from beyond the three point line and 20 of 42 from the field.
Three Gray Wolves ended the game in double figures with
John Willhite leading the team with 17 points,
Marcus Outlaw with 12 points and 5 rebounds and a big game changing block with 38 seconds remaining.
Corey Harvey would chip in 10 points and four rebounds as well.
The Gray Wolves improve to 9-10 overall and 3-5 in WHAC play.
Next up for the Gray Wolves is a WHAC game at the Sylvania Tam-O-Shanter on Saturday at 3pm against UM-Dearborn. The women's game will be played at 1pm in Sylvania.
